At the top margin of 1r appears the title “Torre del Lago” and, to the right, the signature “Giacomo Puccini”. In the margins of pp. 1v.-2v. are drawings and autograph caricatures; along the lower margins of pp. 1v.–2r., there are densely crossed-out writings, with overlapping strokes. On the lower margin of p. 2r., the signature “GiacomoP” survives beneath a canceled annotation. On p. 2v., to the right, under the final system, appears the signature “GPuccini” and two caricatures, one of which is a self-caricature overlaid by a second full signature, corresponding to the first line of a triplet: “Giacomo Puccini / che uno lo prenda / e l’altro lo strini”, followed by “Torre del Lago / 1904”.
