2 pages of a double leaf, 4° oblong format (32.5 × 23.5 cm) with 12 staves comprising 41 bars, one of which is cancelled. Annotations in a different hand: “ore 5.50” and the date “1881” on the last page of the double leaf.
The music is written in the soprano, alto, tenor, and bass clefs.
This is the first part of the fugue, perhaps already presented earlier in the academic year, and later used again by Puccini for the year’s final examination (see 30.B.1).
