(missing, only preserved in photocopy): 2 pages, 4° oblong format (34.5 × 24 cm) with 12 staves, possibly in the handwriting of Puccini’s brother Michele.

This is the beginning of a fair copy of 48.B.1 (the first 45 bars with the tempo indication “Andante sost.o”).
The original double leaf also contained 47 (apparently on the fourth page after a blank third page; see Hopkinson 1968, p. 65, IX h).
