Puccini reused this music in Fidelia’s aria, “Addio, mio dolce amor”, at the beginning of Act 3 of Edgar (62).
Without any substantiation, Bassi 1992 dates this music from 1883; for stylistic reasons, Magri 1999 estimate the time of composition as 1878 or 1879. It is certain, however, that the manuscript paper is the same type Puccini used during his years at the Milan Conservatory, as well as for the composition of Le Villi (60).
