TIME OF ORIGIN
Possibly first half of 1880, the Credo was already written in 1878 (see 4).
PERFORMANCES
First performance of the integral composition by the chorus and orchestra of faculty and students of the Istituto musicale "Giovanni Pacini"): 12 July 1880 in Lucca, probably in the church of San Paolino; the Credo already had been performed on 21 July 1878 (see 4); the Kyrie, Gloria, and Agnus Dei were also performed earlier, on 11 July 1880 at the Pacini Institute (see NOTES).
INSTRUMENTATION
Solo Tenor and Solo Bass (or Baritone).
Chorus: Soprano, Contralto, Tenor, Bass.
Piccolo, 2 Flutes, 2 Oboes, 2 Clarinets, 2 Bassoons, 2 Horns, 2 Trumpets, 3 Trombones, Ophicleide, Timpani, Strings.
